KIM PASSALAQUA

29 November to 11 December 2016 Opening: Friday 2 December, 6.30 to 8pm

My current series of landscapes, from my travels throughout remote regions of Australia, are investigations of perception and interpretation of the landscape. I look for inspiration for later abstraction then use light and colour to evoke the immense power and infinite vastness of the space. My response to the landscape uses colour, texture and marks that make each painting unique. I translate the energy and the complex interactions that occur between people and the landscape to create a sense of discovery.

We live in intricate tapestries of landscapes, so I would like my paintings to enrich and illuminate the passages and horizons that link us. The experience of being in remote, infinite spaces gives you a connection with the land and can be very immediate and instinctive.
